Creating Cloth with Garment Maker (Autodesk 3ds Max)

In this tutorial we will be looking at creating clothing using the Garment Maker Modifier in 3ds Max. We will also briefly look at simulating clothing. Check back for another tutorial showing other uses for cloth simulation.

At 18:50, you need to selected the two short lines and click "Make Multisegment". Then select that multisegment and the other long line and Create Seam

At 28:00 you could have changed the pivot point, aligning it to world.

Great tip! That makes so much sense. I didn't realize the pivot point was considered during simulation.

Dude I am glad you did not call this a tutorial because it is terrible. I have seen you do brilliant tutorials before but this was just horrible. You know you can do this video again much shorter and better.
I too have just learnt how to do cloth simulation and I was making no end of mistakes I just wanted to give up.
Writing notes sure helps you to understand what you are doing.
I am giving a thumbs up for the sheer entertainment value.

hi there, would you please help me, I've faced a problem I can't select seperate segments on the line spline instead of its show only one spline of the whole shape and when I'm trying to create seam  it says "seam line topology is wrong". this is weird. I'm desperate to figure it out why?

+Kint 3D go back to the spline shape. Select all of the vertices and click the break button. Then add your modifiers again. Try that.

Use Transform Toolbox to quickly center either the pivot point or the objects.

Even if this video is not named a tutorial the whole content seems to be one and i'm very disappointed with it. In the whole process you make more problems than to show exactly how to use both modifiers properly. Also it seems you're using randomised numbers in the parameters without explaining what they affect.
The most disappointed aspect that drives me was the shoulder part. You're doing things by halvless, so how do we supposed to apply the method appropriate? Please before making such videos, learn how to use the mentioned modifiers properly, so that you can handle such neglibilities and show us skills.

That's fair. It is really one of my least favorite "tutorials". I had a student that wanted to see how it worked and the video shows how poor and how many problems this modifier has. I had error after error with this particular video. I edited out the 5 times the software crashed trying to use it. The version that didn't crash, I was so tired of redoing it and frustrated. I completely understand your criticism and it is warranted. I only left it up so this student could use it.

I would honestly suggest avoiding this modifier and would instead suggest the best software for doing clothing, Marvelous Designer.

Sorry you were disappointed with this tutorial. I hope my more recent tutorials will help restore your faith in this channel. I will promptly unlist this tutorial to spare people.
